MR. AND MRS. JOHN LOYD
The children of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Loyd will honor their parents by celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house and pig roast on June 7 at the Loyd home located at Route 4, Philippi.
The celebration will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a brief intermission at 4 p.m. to introduce the family and honored guests of the celebrants.
Mr. and Mrs. Loyd were married June 7, 1958, at Valley Chapel Methodist Church at Horner by the Rev. Harold Elmore and assisted by the Rev. Clarence McCloud.
Mrs. Loyd is the former Betty Ray McWhorter, daughter of the late Howard and Thelma McWhorter. She worked as a teacher for the Barbour County Schools until she retired in 1997.
Mr. Loyd is the son of the late Frank and Ruth Loyd. He worked as a 4-H extension agent until his retirement in 1993.
The couple are active as community leaders and in Crim Memorial United Methodist Church.
