Michael and Maggie Dougherty of Elkins announce the birth of a son, born Oct. 13, 2009, in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon. The infant weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces and has been named Brendan Michael Dougherty.

Lorraine Moran of Elkins, formerly of Kerens, celebrated her 86th birthday with her family in New York City.

Mrs. Moran was born July 10, 1923, the daughter of the late William and Lavinia Hornbeck Polin.
