"And "Buckwild" isn't a real snapshot of life in West Virginia or an accurate portrayal of its' people". Kudos to the Intermountain for that statement. Had the show been an accurate portrayal of its' people, most of the cast members would be overweight and diabetes infected. West Virginians are number two in that category nationwide and home of the number one party school, WVU. I say we all go have a big mac and watch some couches burn. Thanks for making me laugh. P.S. You might check that CNN viewership number that you refer to as "millions". I'm pretty certain that it's more like 250,000 - 500,000 at any given time. But not millions.

Puremagic, If you feel that way maybe you better stay in that "hollar" away from the folks in this state that don't mind associating with other people and showing them the hospitality the good people of this state have to offer. Because those people you descibe are West Virginians backwoods ******* hillbillies, a true minority in this state and tend to stick to the "hollers". The true West Virginia folk welcome people from other areas to come and enjoy our beautiful state.

Personally, I hope WV never shakes the backwards image. Why? People tend to stay away from WV due to its "Deliverance" style reputation, which isn't true, but just the same, it keeps a lot of Rif-Raf out of the state from the bigger cities. Having people scared of you has its advantages. For instance, troublemakers from other states tend to steer clear of WV out of fear of being shot for pilfering around other people's property.

There are other advantages I won't mention, but just the same, it can be advantageous. When these programs hit the air, I laugh at these fools knowing they are helping to protect my peace and solitude from some big city jerk moving in the area I live in. I've had enough of these arrogant, self-righteous Yankees that move here and want to change everything. Let them stay where they are and muck up the works there with their progressive ideas.
