ALL, and I mean ALL, government agencies, from the White House down to the local court houses are as crooked as a dog's hind leg. Some administrations are more crooked than others, but ALL of them are crooked. I've seen one person get the book thrown at them for a DUI, and another walk away unscathed. If you have a father, mother or close relative in the courts or local government, you can do anything and get away with it. I've seen it many times over the years.
Not all property is assessed fairly, especially if someone in the local government takes a fancy to it. I've seen property not worth a hoot to anyone other than the person who owned it, taxed like it was located in Beverly Hills, and prime property taxed like it was in the middle of nowhere. It all depends on how well you're connected.

Abner hits the nail on the head again and again! The assessor's office is the money maker for Randolph! There is no doubt in my opinion and others that the assessor is "fleasing & gouging" the landowners and citizens. We have heard that some have went into the assessor's office and comfronted the assessor about land over assessments. (The mountain piece (raw land) beside theirs was assessed lower. It was owned by a lumber company! Of course the lumber company's lands were assessed lower. But you and me was higher. Favoritism, buddy-buddy system, state senators, federal judges, it would be something if their lands were assessed much lower (It is) than yours and mine! In my opinion, the FBI and State Attorney General's office should prosecute everyone guilty of stuff like this. Like PotBelly says, "nothing is ever politically motivated in Randolph"... yea rite!!!

It would be interesting "after" she returns if SHE would say why she left! My interests are the Tax Assessor's office and the Commissioners. I would like to know why the assessor's office assess property's higher than they are worth. It has been heard that the commissioners advised the assessors office to "flease" or gouge in everyway hook or crook they can. They do&did! Some are taxed low and some (most) are tax'es (assessed) higher than they are worth and when you ask you get a*****& bull story of sales in the area. In my case, nothing was sold and hasn't for years! Yet they raised my assessment. Another thing, the assessors office is ripe with favoritism! This needs to stop!
