Hmmmm, let me get my mind around this boondoggle. 1st, taxpayers' money aquired the land and built the armory. 2nd, for decades, taxpayers' money has been used to maintain & upgrade this facility. Now, political subdivisions of the state and some private associations want to "purchase" this facility. Next, the county commission and city council will probably apply for federal grant monies to "purchase" the facility. The RCDA and the Forest Festival Association will probably also apply for federal/state grants. Again, taxpayers' money. Then, they will individually or collectively apply for additional grants to rehabilitate the facility; again, taxpayers' money. Does this not beg the question, if the federal gov't believed it's time to abandon this facility, what makes these agencies believe that they can afford this white elephant? beyond comprehension!

Additionally, you have a new armory available for the various events that the county commissioner iterated, why would you want to "purchase" a facility decades old and in need of renovation? In other words, why saddle taxpayers with the cost of purchasing, renovating and maintaining a facility that has obviously out-lived its uselful life in perpetuity and expect taxpayers to foot the bill when you have a new and modern facility at your disposal and you do not have to purchase, renovate or maintain it? This makes no sense!
