Yes and while the House GOP voted also to 'exempt' the WWII Memorial so 90 some year old vets could see their own memorial before they died; Obama and Harry Reid said NO to an exemption while Obama DID exempt some workers at the same memorial so they could intentionally 'use a bigger "barrycade"' to keep them out!

Keep in mind now that Obama did NOT barrycade the Martin Luther King Memorial or even close it!! Talk about 'picking and choosing' what folks get hurt by a govt shutdown---this dispicable president and Democrat Harry Reid have NO sympathy for vets or military folks, period!

The sad part of this is that Obama 'pretended' to care about WWII memorial being shut down and vets being hurt a week ago as he 'tried' to blame GOP for their pain. Well now we know he was 'faking' his care as he went above & beyond to make sure the barrycades got stronger.

Am sure he's a little more ticked off today as 'that' barrycade did NOT work either; they removed it and walked in.

Dana Bash, CNN reporter asked Democrat Harry Reid WHY democrats would refuse to vote yes on the same bill the House GOP passed that would ALLOW the NIH to be open so a boy with cancer could continue with a cancer drug trial. Reid got angry, stumbled, and his response? "Why would we do that?" It's a govt shutdown! I guess democrats like Reid and Obama don't really care about kids with cancer either! As Sarah Palin stated....When Harry Reid is questioned with giving exemption for cowboy poetry or kid with cancer....only Harry Reid is stumped and confused as to what to do.

Democrats and President Stompy Feet are proving just how low and dispicable as humans they can go! Intentionally spending MORE money and MORE time to make sure vets and kids with cancer are hurt MORE is more dispicable than anything I've seen in my lifetime!

After President Stompy Feet refused to allow vets in to the WWII Memorial while leaving MLK Memorial open; The RNC decided to pay to keep it open themselves.

Kudos to the RNC! A humongous BOO to DNC!

Since the republicans in the House shut down the government, I've been listening to and reading the same RW gibberish as is published in this fact-free editorial. FoxNoise has created an entire population of gullible and ignorant voters who have been told so many lies and given so much misinformation, it is a miracle that any of them can tie their shoes. Since the Editor of the IM cannot differentiate between the alternate universe of FoxNoise and reality, I am very tempted to cancel my IM subscription.

The GOP has too many chiefs and not enough Indians. Grover Norquist is now blaming Ted Cruz for the mess the GOP finds itself in. Norquist was hand-picked by Reagan in 1985 to create Americans for Tax Reform and the Taxpayer Protection Pledge. All GOP elected officials and those running for election are expected to sign a Pledge to...Grover Norquist. Forget about the Constitution. This is only one way the GOP elite controls the rank and file politicians who republicans vote for in good faith.

ACA has been law since 2010; SCOTUS determined that the mandate is Constitutional; Exchanges opened October 1, 2013; and, President Obama was easily re-elected.

Despite the realities, the House has "repealed" ACA over 40 times...an exercise in republican political game playing. Under no circumstances would these frivolous bills pass the Senate but even if any of them did, President Obama would veto. The government shut-down is a result of the House GOP attaching an amendment to the CR to defund ACA. The shut-down can end with Speaker Boehner sending a clean CR to the floor for a vote. The hostage taking tactic which has been the GOP's default position since 2010 will not work this time.

Republicans blew it big time when they pandered to the right-wing nut jobs who are hostile to anything "Obama." When the law was being considered before both houses of the Congress, hearings were held. Over a period of months any number of ideas, changes, tweaks, etc., could have been presented. But, the Republican boycott of everything to do with healthcare reform meant little participation and automatic "no" votes regardless of what the final product looked like. So, who refused to negotiate then, before the bill was made into law? I think you know the answer.

On to the 2014 Budget process. The House passed a budget and so did the Senate. Patty Murray, the Democratic Senator in charge of the Senate Budget Committee, asked Speaker Boehner eighteen times to designate members of the House to serve on a Conference Committee to try to iron out (e.g. "negotiate") a final bill to be approved by both houses. Eighteen times Boehner refused to designate members and begin the Conference Committee process.

Monday night at about 11:15 Boehner suddenly got religion and demanded that the Senate Democrats designate a Conference Committee to consider the Budget and defund the Affordable Care Act. As you can see, the President and the Democrats had no choice but to say no. There is nothing relating to funding the ACA to negotiate. Remember, it's the law.

Let's understand some simple facts. Whether you like it or not, the Affordable Care Act is the Law of the Land. I know you've heard it all before. But, just for the record, it passed the Senate and House, signed by the President, and upheld by the Supreme Court. It's no longer a "bill." It's a law. A fully enforceable federal law. There is nothing to negotiate.

Now let me 'teach' you something liberal ignorant folks.....Obamacare like every other liberal socialist 'entitlement' program ONLY exists because EACH president and CONGRESS budgets WHAT programs get funded and how much; and which programs do NOT get funded!

There....you liberals learned something NEW today; whether you wanted to or not!

Next CONSERVATIVE president will NOT fund this humongous TAX!! Obamacare is NOT healthcare; it's a huge taxation on YOU! Libs too stupid to see it though. Oh wait till they FEEL IT! Bwahaha.....

As Obama leads, the world is laughing

And believe it the world is laughing. All the rhetoric and innuendo's Obama accuses the GOP of and his gang every time he gets in front of a microphone with his slander like a school yard bully. Obama is so immature in his descriptive comments the world is laughing. His poor leadership qualities will go down in his history as the most failed President in US History, thought Jimmy Carter was bad, Obama can't hold a candle to Carter's administration.

Obama leads the world laughs

One other thing important to me, maybe not some of the posters. The GOP leadership, Ted Cruz, as an example along with others you swear made this government shutdown happen were elected in their districts to carry the voice of their constituents who coincidentally oppose Obamacare and spending. Finally somebody does what the voter asked for even if it means going against the establishment. In most polls this Obamacare law is opposed by +10. Pelosi meant it when she said "we got to pass it to find out what's in it". Well they found out, even those who wrote the law and the congress who voted for the law, don't want it. That should tell you something. I do admit there are some provisions to the law that I find important such as doing away with pre existing conditions, but oppose buying birth control,******s and paying for abortions some may agree, but come back in a year or two, tell us how much better your health care is then with Obamacare. If I'm wrong I'll admit it then.

I also feel very sorry for the poor folks who can't afford the luxury of spending thousands of dollars per year with the silver and gold plans you can buy through the exchanges. The bronze and even some siver plans as an example will cost on the average $100 per month (bronze) with a $5,000 deductible, you must spend out of pocket $5,000 before your plan pays even one $1, what that really means is $1,600 including your monthly premium. You can also choose to have just a Catastrophic plan, similar to Major Medical as an option but unless you become hospitalized, you pay all your own bills out of pocket for ER visits, and your own doctor and whatever treatment is necessary, a cast on a broken bone, X rays, cat scans, examinations, etc and physicals. Some if not most will find it cheaper to pay the penalty. The only way the IRS can collect it is by taking your penalty out of your income tax return, if not getting one they will wait until you do in the future. No other provisions to force

OOPs my bad "what that really means is $1,600 including your monthly premium." should read $6,200, $1,200 for the premium plus the $5,000 out of pocket spending for your bills.

Have any of your self-described "conservatives" heard of a guy named Frank Luntz? Or a fellow named Grover Norquist?

Do any of you know anything about Roger Ailes?

TruthSeeker, let me teach you something...ACA is based on the Massachusetts health care reform law of 2006. This is also called "Romneycare" and was signed into law by...republican governor Mitt Romney. The mandate is the basis of this law and is a republican concept developed by the Heritage Foundation. ACA contains over one hundred republican amendments which include the mandate. ACA was debated publically and Congressional sessions were broadcast on C-span. ACA has been law since 2010, the mandate was determined to be Constitutional by SCOTUS and President Obama was easily re-elected. The exchanges opened October 1, 2013.
