December 27, 2013

MORGANTOWN — It continues to be puzzling that West Virginia University bigwigs saw fit to deprive its football, basketball and baseball fans of getting games on AM radio stations in Morgantown....

I wonder how much Mickey did to get rid of Coach Bowden back in the day, because he sure is doing a lot to get rid of Holgorson and Luck. I began to discredit Mickey's articles prior to the 2003 season when he said "with this schedule, I don't see how WVU can win more than 3 games". He was singing the praises of RichRod a couple months later. Someone needs to take away his typewriter.

It is truly sad to watch one of the greatest sports writers the state of West Virginia has ever had decompose before our very eyes.

Bray Cary and WV Media got special treatment in the contract even though Cary's company essentially ripped The University off for $5 million in 2007, likely due to his political connections.

There is no question that it is impossible to provide quality radio throughout the state without the Raeses' participation. At a minimum, his company should have been offered the same deal.

Although I completely agree with the comments of EERSGO, I am pretty sure they are not an Alum of the West Virginia University College of Business and Economics (or worse yet, an ENGLISH MAJOR). Otherwise they would know that people have "business SENSE" not "business since" Thank you for sharing your thoughts, opinions and comments but for goodness sake proofread anything you put out there for others to read. Poor spelling and grammar just makes your comments look and sound ridiculous.

Seriously Mickey? I know you're like 1200 years old but how do you not have a radio with FM? I can say with a good amount of confidence that you, sir, are definitely in the minority here. I'm not made of money buy if you want I can buy you an FM radio. I mean, I found them online for less than 2 dollars.

And didn't it come out awhile back that Raese was buying up other radio stations, including WCLG in order to prevent them from finalizing a deal to air IMG's broadcast of WVU sports? So tell me again, who is to blame? The university for making millions of extra dollars? Or Mr Raese acting like a 10 year old who didn't get his way so in order to punish everyone he took his ball and went home?

Mickey continues his vendetta against WVU and Oliver Luck. As he well knows or should the reason the Morgantown stations are not showing games is that they refused to be a part of the WVU IMG network. They are upset that they no longer have their sweetheart deal with the former good ole boy network. Anybody with any business since would have taken the IMG deal versus receiving next to nothing in the former contract. Mickey needs to get over himself and start printing facts instead of his half truths at the best.
