January 11, 2014

Pay attention, West Virginians! Watch closely how Congress intends balancing the budget and who will be asked to pay the sacrifice. One-fifth of the U.S. population receives Social Security....

Puremagix, once again you prove yourself to be completely ignorant of the most basic concepts. And you clearly do not even know what your own republican politicians are doing to destroy Social Security and Medicare.

Social Security was signed into law by Franklin D. Roosevelt, a Democrat, in 1935. Medicare was signed into law by Lyndon B. Johnson, a Democrat, in 1965.

It is Paul Ryan, the republican VP candidate running with Mitt Romney in 2012, who has concocted the plan to cut SS benefits and end Medicare as we know it. Ryan's Plan has been attacked by every sane economist in this country and he even had protests from the Nuns On A Bus. It has been the Democrats who create successful programs to improve the lives of Americans.

As always, nellie showing how an uneducated, selfish, intolerant, blathering minion can be once they set their mind to believing a lying politician. How many more lies does Obama have to tell and prove its a lie before you finally cave in and admit he lied daily to you? Says a lot about you. Continuing to believe a liar really does prove one thing; you're either too stubborn to admit it or really truly brain dead.

Really, TS? What part of my comment do you take issue with?

Do you dispute the FACT that both Social Security and Medicare are Democratic programs signed into law by Democratic Presidents?

Do you dispute the FACT that Paul Ryan, a republican, has created a plan and a budget to slash Social Security Benefits and end Medicare as we know it?

Puremagix, does this comment of yours describe Paul Ryan? "...The ones on the right that are hurting the elderly and those on medicare are not true conservatives. They are plants from the DNC that sneaked in to the GOP and Rhinos. Not true conservatives..."

You do know, don't you, that it is Paul Ryan who ran as VP candidate with Mitt Romney and has been touted as one of the most "conservative" young republicans. Ryan is the architect of all the republican Budgets and is considered to be the "expert".

So, this is a prominent republican who plans to cut SS benefits and slash Medicare. Is he a DNC plant, Puremagix?

The ONLY way Nellie's comments would be sensible would be IF Nellie would ADMIT to all the democrats' who were caught in lies, deceits and stealing and tax evasion, etc...that it was WRONG for them to do that and just like anyone else, they should PAY for their crimes. Otherwise, Nellie is just a typical "hypocrite" who thinks only 'others' should pay for their crimes but not a democrat. Right Nellie? Now go ahead....start calling me names. We're used to the childrens' responses on the left. Laughing all the way to the polls.

TS, you really have no business participating in political discussions. I politely asked if you can dispute two FACTS and you cannot respond because 1) you do not know the answers; and, 2) you are too incurious and lazy to Google for those answers.

It is you who are childish and petty. You post about your "spacing" errors and prefer to obsess over trivia.

I can assure you, TS, I am old enough to remember the Nixon years and because you probably cannot place Nixon in history, I will help you by saying that I am retired. And I most definitely have a life.

You are not being bullied. Your ignorance and childish behavior are being challenged.

Face it: democrats just do not care about anyone but themselves. They've been known to stab each other in the back to get what they want. Just imagine what they'd do to anyone else.

Hillary backed and worked with Obama. Now she pretends she hates what he's done. Yeah, right!

Manchin supports Obama; now pretends he hates what Obama stands for. Yeah, right!

Democrats care ONLY about themselves.

They're days are coming to an end. They see it. They are scared of it. Most are not running for office again as they know they won't win. Others are resorting to more lies, more deceit, lying empty promises, seeking more fraud in voting to win, re-writing their own history to make themselves look better to get a job that gives them the power to tax you, force you to do what they want, strip you of all rights and force you to do things moral folks will not do.

Only crooks vote for crooks!

This subject of this letter is a concern over Social Security. It is not about Hillary nor Benghazi. This is why Social Security is in jeopardy because people are NOT paying attention to the issues at hand. They are distracted by the partisan politics that divide this country. Both parties have talked about plans to cut social security. Paul Ryan in his budget and Pres. Obama with the changes in chained CPI. Make sure you contact your representatives and tell them to protect our Social Security benefits.

@awarevoter: Nice try! If you think Hillary has nothing to do with Social Security; think again.

You tell voters to think about SS when voting yet you think politicians are not the subject? Boy, you have "progressive liberal" written all over you. If Hillary runs for prez; people better be sure NOT to vote for her if they want their SS.

Obama's done NOTHING just like all democrats in congress today to help the poor or SS. He's raising taxes (Obamacare is a tax!) on EVERYONE.

Go spread the progressivism somewhere else. We're much too smart for the left in here.

OK, TruthSeeker, why don't you explain some of the basics of Social Security to us...

For example ... Who was the Democratic President who signed Social Security into law and in what year?

What percentage of your paycheck goes to pay for Social Security and what is that tax called?

What percentage of your paycheck goes to pay for Medicare?

What is the current cap on Social Security contributions?

Sorry you're that ignorant of those issues; however I am not going to educate you for free any further. I don't GIVE away freebies. If you want tutoring; I will do so for a fee. Interested?

Nelliebly, Those sense even acknowledges what these left-winger have to say. They just repeat every rumor or allegation that is fed to them. They don't research or even think on their own or they could answer those simple questions that they were asked. You can't cure stupid unfortunately. If anybody is going to cut or take away Soc. Sec. it will be the GOP, because they never wanted it in the first place. They only want what helps them and if it doesn't it's "big government". They actually think these left-wing politicians really care about them. They need to get it in their head that these crooks, most of who were born with a silver spoon in their mouths are incapable of knowing what the "real" working citizens of this county need. They know the right things to say to manipulate people by threatening their ways of life. Scare tactics is how they control and as long as they're gullible to swallow the "koolaid". They will vote against their best intere

I'm glad you posted, playfare, because I think it's important to respond to these Right-Wingers. The Intermountain is a Right-Wing paper and the editorials are often just cut and pasted from FoxNoise website and/or paraphrased from something one of the IM editors heard on FoxNoise.

It's easy enough to research online and I've challenged TruthSeeker to provide FACTS for several of her Right-Wing claims.

It's important for all voters to understand Social Security and Medicare and learning about how these taxes are collected and allocated is the first step. Clearly, TruthSeeker doesn't care and is too lazy to find out.

A lot of these right wingers have got large bank accts to supplement their living expenses along with Social Security. They tend to have the opinion that everyone should have saved extra money for retirement. When you make just enough to get by on, there's nothing left to save. Most of us are just one catastrophic illness from being in sad financial trouble. Social Security benefits are not being raised to meet up with the costs of living. When they have to pick between eating, medicine or utilities, there's no way they can handle a cut in benefits. Everyone no matter how high their income should have to pay into the Social Security system and it should not be used or borrowed from for any reason but for what it was intended to be used for. As for us "Lefties" targeting the elderly and the veterans. We fight for this folks. You right-wingers are caterers to the wealthy and big business and use rumors and scare tactic to control those that you feel that are gullible and are b

Me jealous?? How would you know about my financial status? Just because I have a conscience and care for others doesn't mean I can't be well off. Not everybody that is financially well off is selfish, greedy, practices gluttony or doesn't feel that they should pay their fair share ( which means not depending on the middleclass to pay what I should be paying). I was raised to have respect for others. I am not about to let something like having wealth muddy values I hold higher than any dollar bill. Unlike people like you and purebull that worry about nobody but yourselves and how much it's going to cost you. In the long run your values and attitudes may cost you dearly. You and your cronies will find out in the near future how tired the average American is of the obstructionist, war-loving/vet-hateing, racist, homophobic GOP. No matter how the splintered parts of the party try to separate their beliefs and goals, it all amounts to the same horse pucky....like a broken record, blah, blah

Just like your lack of knowledge concerning my financial status, you have no idea how much I have contributed to society in various ways in private. I don't feel that I need to toot my own horn about the ways and how much I contribute. Most I do not claim for a tax deduction. I don't "play" both sides of the fence. I treat everybody the way they deserve to be treated no matter what economic status they hold. If you respect me, I will respect you also. I'm done talking to you however because you do nothing but show rude ignorance to anybody that has a different opinion than you have.

Maybe not Playfare....but while we may not know how much YOU give or contribute....we DO know that liberals with all their screams for 'helping the less fortunate' really do not. Every year the numbers of liberals giving to charitable organizations are so low that it's embarassing. Conservatives give more of their money away to charity than all liberals combined.

During time leading up to debate between Mitt Romney and Obama, media itself released numbers between congressional conservatives and liberals that give to charity. Conservatives gave away more of their own money than liberals did to the poor and needy. FACT whether you want to believe it or not. Liberals TAKE; conservative GIVE.
