Isn't it always amazing how the folks elected (or picked by state officials) to handle budgets, etc...and the rest of the officials in BOE ALWAYS pretend they knew NOTHING about the oops! deficit until months later??

Well, if they can't keep on top of their job duties and keep themselves knowledgeable about things pertaining to their JOBS, they can consider themselves too incompetent for the job and should resign...lest the people wise up and fire them at the polls.

Saying you knew nothing about this deficit until September or whenever, is NOT an excuse. Incompetents!

The Randolph County BOE has one of the largest numbers of board employees in the state. How many administrators do we really need per employee? How many positions were created within the BOE so family members and friends could have secure jobs? Don't pick on the teachers, salaries, or benefits, the lord knows they are given little enough as it is. And the big question is ignored....WHY are we almost $1 million in debt? Was it due to Dr. Phares' willy nilly spending and large salary? Too bad it's a question the IM doesn't ask.

Major - you have zero idea what you are talking about. Randolph County has no control of employee benefits. They are totally controlled by the State of West Virginia. In fact approx. 90% of the budget is mandated by State Law so there is very little flexibility.
