Many folks do not realize that Spring Break is an out of calendar week, nonpaid week for teachers. When the calendar is voted it cannot be changed and stands as is. Only out of school environment days (OSE) and Instructional Support Educational Days (ISE) can be used for makeup days. Next year will be different as each snow day will be made up. The school calendar policy explains that and you may get your answers if you check out the following link. *******

Once again everyone knows how to run the education system better than those trained and paid to do so! Everyone will get their wish next year. Teachers will work every contract day, are you happy? Well let me make you happier. In bad weather students will still be off and teachers will be off. I bet there will be no 2 hour delays just more days off. The days will run in the summer until all time is served. I won't plan on June vacations but that's ok because education comes first!!!!!

Did I read this right? The students will still have a Spring Break? I believe that my children have been in class about 14 days since their Christmas break. Who are the fools who renewed this guys contract for three more years? These kids are learning nothing except how to be lazy.

"Another thing to think about is unless the schools have 80% attendance it cannot be counted as a day"

Are we counting days or educating our children? The students that can make it to school are entitled to instruction.

I think too often we confuse safety with liability. I don't think our student's safety is the number one concern but the exposure to the risk of being sued. I don't see short changing or childresn's education as being caring.

Open the school doors and educate our kids.

The best solution would be not to have school Dec. - Feb. and go all summer. The accidents that occur now on the roads would be doubled with more people traveling. Some residents drive like it is 75 degrees with dry roads. Another thing to think about is unless the schools have 80% attendance it cannot be counted as a day. The extended calendar next year will take care of the problem that is of concern to some residents. Schools will be in session through June if needed. The superintendent makes decisions based on student safety first. The largest percentage of students are bused. Be thankful you have a school system that cares. We don't want a situation like the one that occurred in Georgia. Also, students should at this point be continuing education at home. Most teachers have sent home content specific assignments so learning can continue to take place. If not, TEACH 21 is available on the WVDE state website. It is hard to make everyone happy.

How can you with a clear conscience give them a spring break? They've already had two weeks off school. Why not have them make it up in April? Education should be a priority. In the business world you don't get a week off every month.

Funny. I have to go to work when it snows and I have to take my kids somewhere. Teachers should have to go to work when it snows and I should be able to take my kids to school.
