Since Intermountain won't post the url for the article... Basically HSUS, ASPCA and every other group that was using the 370K or 270K or 400K cats from one female in 7 years all stated they don't know where the stats came from and they don't believe them, but they used them. Google "THE NUMBERS GUY By CARL BIALIK Trying to Herd a Cat Stat October 12, 2006" and you'll get the article.

There are so many fallacies and incorrect information in this article, I would use up the 1000 characters max. So we'll let it go with disproving the cat/dog stats by this 2006 (2006! and they are still using it!) article, THE NUMBERS GUY By CARL BIALIK Trying to Herd a Cat Stat October 12, 2006: *******carpoc****/data/wallwtreetjournal_datstat.pdf

Maj, I am a firm believer in sterilizing people who live off welfare and other social programs. Now, before someone blows a gasket, I am not speaking of those who are on it a short while, or the handicapped. This garbage of having a half dozen kids after they are on it to increase their benefits have to stop. If their benefits didn't increase each time they have a kid, they would stop having them.

Why should they be allowed to increase the herd when those of us who work limit the size of our family in order to make ends meet. In reality, welfare is a program that creates the next generation of recipients. It's a never ending cycle that will drive us into financial ruin if it isn't stopped. The workforce in this country is shrinking rapidly, and eventually, there will not be enough money to finance welfare or any other social program when the number of recipients outnumber those who work. It has nothing to do with anamosity against a certain group of people. It's all about numbers.

I love animals, but it sure would be nice to see people such as yourself expend as much time and energy helping people. How can we call ourselves civilized when we a murderer receives a lighter sentence than someone mistreating an animal? There are millions of people right here in America who don't have enough to eat, children who are in need of a home and elderly people who are being abused, and go without food and medicine because a stray dog or cat is of more importance. It angers me when I see the needs of animals put above the needs of humans. I'm sure your intentions are honorable, but your focus need a little adjustment. Focus on helping people, and offereing them a companion, and I am willing to bet you'll place a lot more animals in the process.
