This is how the Democrats get around admitting their ban on certain foods in school isn't working. When they banned snacks and drinks, they soon found out that it wasn't working. The kids just kept getting fatter. Why? It's not the food, it's the chemicals being put in the snacks, like High Fructose Corn Syrup. When their attacks against snacks didn't pan out, they tried another tactic, starving the kids into losing weight.

Buckhannon Upshur is particularly bad. Several students have been complaining about the meals they are given at lunch, meals we are paying for, like a handful of potato chips and a single hotdog. Most of the time, they can't have more than a half pint of milk to go with it.

A field mouse could eat more than that. They always mask the problem by trying a different approach, rather than fixing the problem. HFCS has been tied to juvenile diabetes, but the FDA won't ban it because the food producers have them in their pocket.

Pretty pathetic when democrats try to force us to eat what THEY want us to eat; then must actually embarrassingly pass a bill to undo their childish stupidity and call it a 'cupcake bill.' Can democrats embarrass our nation any further? Oh yes...they can and will....just give them another day.

Stupid is polite for this liberal bunch of power-hungry clowns.

What right does the state have to tell parents what their kids can and cannot eat?

That sounds like Soviet Russia to me, but then again it looks more and more like we're trying to out-communist the communists.

Why do so many people make fools of themselves by making comments without doing any research? All you have to do is to check the menu in any school system and you can easily see that the menu is varied and good.

Awesome. I think one cupcake or one brownie is a nice idea, and it can be used to teach moderation (it won't teach itself, but the opportunity is there.) Orange slices and fruit are still good, too. Pretzels do not an exciting party make.

@Bowden...lol. Yeah, I don't think serving a bun with a slice of cheese on it and thats' all is real healthy. Sure, govt schools are serving great food; is why kids are preferring NO lunch to Michelle Obama's 'forced' rabbit food!

Dem. Denise Campbell finally figure out democrats attempts to 'control' what kids eat isn't working out so well? What I thought! Dems get zero applause for this bill. After all, it was these same fools that caused us to have to UNDO their STUPIDITY!

Why Jane...I thought you liberals were "on board" with Obama and Michelle's 'new food group' and 'forced food' mandates they were working on for our country.

Backtracking.....seeing the 'writing on the wall' eh libs?

Dems have NO future in congress after midterms. Dems sending out emails that all polls show a clear losing streak in 6 states between them and the republicans. They are losing all their support and they did it to themselves. Congrats!

You are all idiots. This is not a liberal/conservative issue. This is trying to give kids healthier alternatives to the crap they are eating at home. It is so frustrating that conservatives always use the liberal word when they don't like something.

wvnative.....YOU lefties MADE it an issue. Go back and google the OBAMA'S school lunch mandate! Yeah, you really THAT clueless and THAT 'not' on top of what your own party does? Pfft. LOL

Dems in NY forcing NO big gulp soda pop; Michelle Obama forcing all snack machines out of schools; no soda machines....changed school lunches to uneatable junk that kids refusing to eat and they go home starving. Yeah it's working real well. Geez.

YOUR party are the 'dicators' trying to force everyone to eat, drink and act like they do. NOT happening. Get over it.

Maj:Moochelle needs to step away from the table. Way too much junk in the trunk.

Well maybe it's all that ice cream they keep shoving down their pie holes. Ice cream is 50% fat and 50% sugar. Real healthy, eh? Then Obama's tell rest of us we shouldn't eat it. HYPOCRITES.

Hey media...On a more IMPORTANT issue:

Today Obama announces National Security meeting on Russians taking over Ukraine. Guess who DIDN'T show up for meeting???

OBAMA! Clueless; useless and very dangerous to our nation.

Actually this bill would allow poeple to have the "Freedom" to bring sweet treats to parties that have been banned from schools. This would allow parents, and teachers to use their own judgment instead of going by what the government tells them. So you would think that a true conservative would be all for this bill. With that being said; a recent study just revealed that childhood obesity has dropped in the past ten years.

Besides...if they eat too many cupcakes, and become "gravitationally challenged" and develop diabetes, or heart disease, they will be covered by "Obama care", or Medicare.
