Phares played the system to his advantage, and will exit well off.

Phares seems to navigate the system to his favor and those who support his modis operandu. (his gain)! My only dislike was his putting Randolph Levy on the citizens of Randolph using tactics that bamboused the taxpayer/citizens under the students name. Senior Citizens of Randolph were made to pay extra tax's just to support his Levy. It will never end! Those who are enjoying it are in control! We citizens have lost control to a few who are ruling the roost with superior word power. I am not against good but I am against those taking the will from the people and painting a picture only to benefit themselves. When the majority just doesn't know what happened.

Charleston newspapers and Metro News reported that Phares reason for "retiring" was growing family issues." IMO, and I do not know Mr. Phares or anything about him, but the wrong person resigned. Gayle Manchin should be the one resigning. And, the spotlights and cameras are much, much bigger in DC. As Byrd said of his colleague from the state of Washington found to be "fondling" the hired help, "have the good grace to go!" Sad, sad, when your are appointed to the state board of education because your husband was governor and not based on your qualifications.

Jane26241, Is Phares the incompetent*****who ran Randolph County a million bucks into the hole? If so, he should be behind bars, not praised to high heaven.

Tax and spend democrats, getting zero results for the money they waste. They think this Marcellus shale is a bonanza. Meanwhile, the workers are coming from out of state, and the trucks are beating the roads into gravel.

Maybe we can get the gas folks to fund the education system, and pave the roads? Maybe even hire some West Virginians?

Not a chance. Watch your property taxes go up, up, up. That is the democrat way.

You will always be in debt unless you are willing to pay more property taxes. You are not going to get something for nothing.

Willing to bet that Phares' replacement will be a friend of Senator Manchin. I know, I am totally psychic. And did Dr. Phares leave the state in $1 million debt the way he left Randolph County?
