Our big mistake, in a way, was splitting away from Virginia to form our own state in 1863....

Southerners are another story. They move here and before you know it, they're one of us. They blend right in with the rest of the community. I don't know why some people can't be content with how things are in WV. They liked it well enough to move here, and then for some unknown reason, everything doesn't suit them. Personally, I wish all of them would move back to where they came from and leave us alone.

Stereotypes don't bother me in he least. I couldn't care less what these fools think of our state and the people who live here. Why? Most of these people are just stupid enough to believe them, and if that keeps them from moving here, well, that suits me just fine. Over the years, I met several "outsiders", mainly Yankees from NY & NJ, and it has been my experience that they are rude, condescending and nothing more than a bunch of meddling busybodies. They're not content with moving here and enjoying what we've enjoyed for decades. Once they move here, they set about changing things.
They run for seats in city and county governments, trying to shove their big city ideas down our throat. They moved here because we offered a safer community, and the cost of living was reasonable. It's never enough to just move here and become one of the community. Oh, no, they won't be satisfied until they create a mirror image of the crap they left behind. Yankees are particularly bad ab
I am not bothered by stereotypes. It just shows that persons' ignorance---not ours!!!
I know some ignorant folks are trying their best to bring WV back to VA; but it's NOT going to happen. The deceivers are out in full force under this administration in the WH. All sorts of deceivers trying to tell us that WV 'illegally' left and divided from VA centuries ago. WV wants no part of high taxes, higher crime, etc...that comes with VA. So get over it!
