Wesleyan College to Host Lacrosse Basics Clinic

November 7, 2007
The Inter-Mountain
A “Lacrosse Basics Clinic” will be conducted at West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon on Nov. 17. The event will be from 8 a.m. to noon in Rockefeller Center. The entry fee is $50 per player.

Participants will be given instruction on the rules, field set up, passing, catching, shooting and goalie skills. The clinic is open to both boys and girls — players are asked to bring a stick, goggles, mouth guard, helmet, pads and goalie equipment.

“Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the country right now,” said John Bohman, former Wesleyan lacrosse coach. “Over 120 Buckhannon-Upshur High School students expressed interest after the school decided to form a lacrosse club. The knowledge and experience for the game is probably somewhat limited at this point. Right now there are 10 high schools in the state that offer lacrosse. The college wants to do something to help the local high school stay in front of the curve.”

For more information or to register call Bohman at 473-8073 or Evey Hepinger at 473-8397.
