Canaan Valley Resort Appoints New Ski School Director, Sous Chef

Canaan Valley Resort recently appointed Darren McConnell as director of snowsports education and Eric Buchinger as executive sous chef for the Tucker County four-season destination resort.

Troy Cardwell, general manager for Canaan Valley Resort, made the announcement.

“We are very pleased to bring these two energetic and highly skilled individuals into the Canaan Valley Resort family,” Cardwell stated. “Darren and Eric exhibit the passion for customer service for which this resort has become known.”

Cardwell said that McConnell, as director of snowsports education, will oversee Canaan Valley Resort’s ski, snowboard and Airboard instructional programs. He will provide both individual and group lessons throughout the ski season.

McConnell, originally from Philippi, has worked as a ski and snowboard instructor at various regional ski areas for the past nine years. He is a certified Level II AASI snowboard instructor.

Cardwell said that Buchinger, as executive sous chef, will assist executive chef Nemat Odeh with Canaan Valley Resort’s culinary program.

Buchinger, who has worked in the food service industry since age 13, has managed his own restaurant and has also worked with noted chef’s at resorts throughout Pennsylvania.
