Mill Creek Woman Arrested in Robbery

By CARRA HIGGINS, Staff Writer
POSTED: August 27, 2008

Randolph County Sheriff Deputies made a second arrest in the attempted robbery at the Country Convenience Store in Valley Bend.

Tonya Lynn Huffman, 23, of Mill Creek is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on the charge of accessory after the fact, according to Deputy J.A. Burns.

Huffman allegedly drove Michael Joshua Taylor away from the scene Sunday night, Burns said.

Taylor allegedly walked into the store with a knife and demanded money from the cash register.

I lived in Mill Creek until I was 16 years old. My family has lived there for generations. I always tried avoiding telling people that I was from Mill Creek because of the reputation it has had for as long as I can remember. I'm half a century old now and I no longer deny the place of my ancestors. I have lived in many different places in Randolph County. Believe me when I tell you that Mill Creek, or Pill Creek as my wife and friends call it, is really no worse than Elkins, Beverly, Montrose, Valley Head, Coalton or anyplace else in the county. Of course there is a drug and resulting criminal problem just as there is any place else in the United States. Go to the bars in and around Elkins on the weekend and see for your self what type of people you see there. Perhaps we should all try to do what we can to help change the things that cause these problems instead of making derogatory remarks about "someone elses problem".

sas0602, elkins is differient from Mill Creek. You don't have the "white collar" jobs and Elkins has a higher class of people (education and lawyers and etc). Elkins people behave better. Come on up to Mill Creek and hang out some. You see kids as young as 5 chewing copenhagen, smoking, cussing fighting (girls too), filthy talk which I am sure you don't condone. I suggest YOU grow up and get real and smell the coffee. I invite you to walk up a few of the "Hollars" at dark and lets see how you talk later. Or come to Mill Creek Sat night and drive around. Sites to behold!!

Evidently you don't live in Mill Creek?? There are a "few" good people in this town! A few!! Most have died off or moved away! I speak from experience job related and know what I am talking about!! No braggin, just fact! Churchs in Mill Creek are not Full, only those who care about themselves and others in the community attend. They pray for you and me for sure! But I don't see them doing anything to clean the town(s) up! Its comments left like yours that make us cringe.. Only god knows...well more than this.. everyone knows.. the police knows, everyone knows Mill Creek is a canker sore and source of lots of illegal activity.

OMG!! This comment is left for the person who left the other comment. Don't judge people you don't know. Only God knows what is going on and not all people in Millcreek are bad.

Gee Whez, another Mill Creek resident is arrested.. won't be long nobody will be left in Mill Creek that's not in Jail! But I heard this is just the tip of the iceberg of corruption. The whole place in nothing but a den of inquity and crooks, thieves, druggies, cheats and bad characters who are just waiting to pick your pockets or rob you. The self employed (carpenters, labors and likes) all cheat on there tax's by not reporting anything, draw workers compensation on top of it. What a town..Huttonsville is not as bad but close. Thanks to the Law Enforcement in Randolph for locking these characters up!! I salute you!!
