An Elkins teenager remains lodged in the North Central Regional Jail on a murder charge after reportedly running down a man following an argument Saturday morning.
Robert James Winning, 19, who is a student at Fairmont State University, is charged in the death of 28-year-old Christopher Williams of Pittsburgh.
Williams died Saturday afternoon at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
According to the Fairmont Police Department report, Williams had been a passenger in Winning's vehicle, and the two of them began arguing around 5 a.m. Saturday. Winning reportedly pulled his vehicle into a parking lot in the 900 block of Fairmont Avenue, and Williams exited the car and started walking away on the sidewalk.
According to the report, Winning allegedly drove over the curb and onto the sidewalk, striking Williams with the car. Fairmont Police Chief Mark Hayes called it an intentional act.
After striking Williams with the car, Winning reportedly drove away from the scene. Winning was arrested following a pursuit.
