The Elkins High School volleyball team defeated Fairmont Senior in four games Wednesday in North Central Athletic Conference action at Richard P. Simmons Memorial Gymnasium.

The Tigers won by scores of 25-19, 25-15, 22-25 and 25-18.

Erin Scarberry had seven blocks and six kills, while Kayla Tanner had eight ace serves for Elkins.

Loryn Vanscoy followed with five aces for the Tigers.

"We finally played as a team tonight," said Elkins coach Stephanie Riddle. "They finally communicated as a team and played hard."

Kaitlin O'Neal had 14 kills, two aces and one block for the Lady Polar Bears. Bridget Ford had 20 digs for Fairmont Senior.

The Polar Bears won the junior varsity contest in three games.

Elkins will host Preston Tuesday for another conference clash.

Middle School Football

EMS?35, Belington 28

Sean Cain passed for 96 yards an three touchdowns to lead Elkins past Belington 35-28 Wednesday in middle school football action at Wimer Stadium.

All three of Cain's scoring strikes went to Nick Martin, who finished with 74 yards receiving for the Hornets (3-2).

Clayton Collett also had a strong showing for Elkins, returning two kickoffs for touchdowns (80 and 75 yards).

High School Soccer

Grafton 3, PBHS 2

GRAFTON - Grafton defeated Philip Barbour 3-2 Wednesday in Big 10 Conference action.

Trisha Denniston and Kelly Creed scored goals for the Colts (5-9-2).

Chelsa Bulka and Paige Sturm had assists for Philip Barbour.

Philip Barbour will host Robert C. Byrd today for another conference contest.
