October has been designated as American Pharmacists Month by the American Pharmacists Association. This year's theme is "Know Your Medicine, Know Your Pharmacist."
The staff of Tri-County Pharmacy welcomes area residents to join the celebration of the pharmacist profession.
"We will be having various activities throughout the month," a spokesperson said. "All activities are open to all members of the community that wish to attend."
Tri-County Pharmacy is an independent pharmacy located at the intersection of Routes 4 and 20 south in Rock Cave. The pharmacy team includes: pharmacists Terry Craig, Christine Hamner and Dale Nesselroade; technicians Ashley Norman, Amy Bush and Sara Hamner; accounting manager Melinda Hyre; and accounting clerk Tammy Vaughn. Tri-County Pharmacy is open to all individuals and accepts all major insurances.
"It is a popular misconception that you must be a patient of Tri-County Health Clinic to be a patient at our pharmacy," the spokesperson said. "This is not accurate. We accept all patients regardless of which physician they see.
"If you are not currently a patient at our pharmacy, we welcome you to stop by and meet our staff and see what we have to offer. In addition to our prescription medications, we carry a wide selection of over-the-counter and personal care items," the spokesperson continued. "We also carry a variety of Lorann oils. We can also special order most OTC items at any patient's request."
Oct. 28 is designated National Pharmacy Technician Day. Tri-County's technicians "are a very valuable part of our pharmacy team," the spokesperson said. "They help our pharmacy run smoothly and we appreciate them so much. Stop by the pharmacy and tell them 'thanks.'"
The pharmacy will be having an open house Friday and Saturday. Doors will open at 8 a.m. and pharmacists will be present to answer questions and provide information on patient programs.
The pharmacy will also have a drawing for a "Good Health Basket" during the celebration. There will be a coloring contest, which is open to all children.
"American Pharmacists Month gives us an opportunity to celebrate our profession and our patients," the spokesperson said. "We hope you will join us. Stop into our pharmacy and meet our staff. We are here to serve you."
