Ross Raises, Spends More To Capture Senate Seat

Ads, buttons, flyers - they all cost money. State Senate candidates have spent as little as $222 and as much as $158,882 to keep or take over a seat in the state Legislature. Campaign financial statements were submitted to the West Virginia Secretary of State's office between Sept. 22 and Sept. 26.

In the 15th District, Mike Ross of Coalton, a Democrat, has raised more than twice as much as his Republican opponent, Sen. Clark Barnes. Ross has also outspent Barnes by more than $120,000.

Barnes has spent $33,254.52 and received $30,804.59 in contributions to date.

William Laird, Democratic candidate for the 11th Senatorial District, has received $38,583.85 in contributions. Laird's year-to-date expenditures total $28,927.34.

Oh, one other thing! If Mike Ross would sell some of his land's he picked up at tax sales and etc., he would not need to get any donations.

Hee,hee.. see all the people lining the pockets of the politicians so they can get there "wish" list fullfilled when election is over! Isn't this the typical senerio of West Va politics! All the way back to Arch Moore days and before! Wonder why West Va is relagated to 48th in everything because we citizens have to take whatz left over when the politicians and lobby'est(sp)get there promises...we citizens who voted (1) time get the shaft. Just like a divorce...we get nothing but bills and tax's to pay these DW's IOU's.

There's something wrong. I've gotten toooo many slick large post cards from Barnes. One mailing costs a lot...plus postage. One mailing is probably more than he declares he has spent.
