Two Cited in Three-vehicle Collision
By Becky Wagoner, Staff WriterA three-vehicle accident in the city limits of Buckhannon Wednesday resulted in charges against two females involved in the collision.
The accident occurred near the Colonial Hotel, when Ashley Miller, 20, of Glenville, struck a Chevy van that was stopped in traffic, driven by Grace Johnson, 58, of Buckhannon. The impact forced Johnson's van into a 2006 Jeep, driven by Sharon Bennett, 40, of Buckhannon, who was also stopped in traffic.
According to officials, Miller said she blacked-out while driving. Miller was charged with driving without an operator's license, no insurance, following too closely and expired registration.
A passenger in the Bennett vehicle, Joyce Ann Duke, 45, of Adrian was charged with inhaling an intoxicating compound and appeared before Magistrate Juanita Adams, who set bond at $1,000 cash. Duke was transported to Tygart Valley Regional Jail by the Buckhannon Police Department.
The accident was investigated by BPD's Adam Gissy and Keith Rowan. They were assisted by the Buckhannon Fire Department and Upshur County Emergency Squad.
