Mr. Simmons is a combat veteran of World War II, was a barber in Tucker County for more than 70 years and is one of three remaining men who helped get the charcoal company started in Parsons.

Mrs. Simmons was a beautician for many years in Parsons and worked at home raising their four children. She received queen for a day at Colonial Place this year and still remembers seeing her husband for the first time and how she knew he was the one.
