WVWC admission staff recruiting for 2010

Fresh off a successful new student recruiting campaign, West Virginia Wesleyan College's admission staff will soon be attending college fairs and visiting high schools throughout the U.S. Wesleyan attracted more than 475 new students during the 2008-2009 year, helping the private residential college increase its total enrollment 7.8 percent to 1,391 students. The entering class is the largest cohort of new students for Wesleyan since 2004.

"Our admission staff did an incredible job attracting a large number of well-qualified students in a very uncertain economy," said Julie Keehner, vice president for student affairs and enrollment management. "Their hard and persistent work along with the assistance of our coaching staff, faculty, administration, college staff and board of trustees helped us enjoy a successful recruitment year."

"West Virginia Wesleyan offers many benefits to students and their parents," noted John Waltz, director of admission. "We have a beautiful physical plant that has been enhanced by the addition of the $7.2 million Virginia Thomas Law Center for the Performing Arts, the soon-to-be-opened $8.2 million David E. Reemsnyder research Center, and Fleming Hall, which reopened after a $5 million renovation. Wesleyan has a rich tradition of academic excellence that includes small classes from a highly challenging, yet supportive faculty and a comprehensive student life program that fosters leadership development."

Wesleyan has one of the highest graduation and retention rates in the state. The college's academic profile of entering students ranks second in the state. The United Methodist-related school is one of three West Virginia colleges and universities to be included in "Colleges of Distinction" and the college has been recognized by "The Princeton review" for seven consecutive years.
