James "Jim' Clayton Phillips, 69, of Elkins entered into eternal rest Wednesday Nov. 11, 2009.
He was born Saturday, Jan. 13, 1940, at Elkins, a son of the late Perry Hall and Dessie Gladys Bright Phillips.
Jim attended the schools of Randolph County. He was a graduate of Elkins High School. He was employed as a coal miner and a carpenter for several years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being in the outdoors. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, James Everett Phillips; and two brothers, Robert "Bob" J. Phillips and Donald "Scott" P. Phillips.
Jim's survivors include one son, Ronald Clayton Phillips and wife, Dorothy, of Philippi; two daughters, Kimberly Fay Everson and husband, Allan, of Belington and Sandra June Phillips of Philippi; five grandsons, Matthew, Justin, Jon, Josh and Andy; two great-granddaughters, Chloe and Gabriel; four sisters, Mary Josephine Hinkle of Louisburg, N.C., Loretta Jean Hinkle and husband, Fred, of Beverly, and Nancy Ellen Mullins and Virginia "Ginny" Ann Skidmore and husband, Ronal, all of Elkins; two brothers, Alan Dale Phillips of Beverly and Steven Hall Phillips of Belington; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Jim's wishes for cremation were honored. Memorial services will be conducted at a later date.
