Paul E. Armstrong

Paul E. Armstrong, 78, of Adolph Road, Mill Creek, entered into eternal rest Thursday Dec. 17, 2009, at his residence surrounded by family.

He was born Sunday, May 31, 1931, in Elkins, a son of the late Doyle and Georgia Currence Armstrong.

On Saturday, Dec. 3, 1955, he married Opal Fincham who preceded him in death on Tuesday, March 29, 2005.

Paul attended the schools of Randolph County.

He was employed as a foreman for R.H. Armstrong, Inc. - West Virginia Paving in Parsons for more than 50 years.

He loved to play guitar.

He was very proud of being a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law, Lavonda Channell and husband, Floyd; and brother and sister-in-law, Billy Armstrong and wife, Eloise; and one granddaughter, Carla Hively.

Paul will be sadly missed by his daughters, Paula "Ginger" Wooddell of Elkins, Judith "Cookie" Collins of Wilmington, N.C., Sherry Mauzy of Davis, Joyce Hofemann of Austin, Texas, Robin Armstrong of Dailey and Tina Taylor of Mill Creek; two sisters, Mary Fincham and husband, Jack, of Mill Creek and Yvonne Valentine and husband, "Speed," of Elkins, 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In memory of Paul E. Armstrong, memorial contirbutions may be made to: Hospice Care, 169 Diamond St., Elkins, W.Va. 26241.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20, at The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 100 Meadow Lane Valley Bend.

Funeral services with full military honors accorded by American Legion Post 29 of Elkins, VFW Post 3647 of Elkins and the West Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard will be conducted at noon Monday, Dec. 21, at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Randy Long officiating.

Burial will follow in Brick Church Cemetery at Huttonsville.

Arrangements for Paul E. Armstrong have been entrusted to The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
