Opportunities abound for Valentine’s Day

The Valentine's Day Dinner Train will depart from the depot in Elkins and take travelers to the Tygart Junction in Barbour County. The ride will include a four-course meal, beverages and wine catered by the Railyard Restaurant.

The South Side Depot in Petersburg is also hosting the "Valentine Express Dinner Train" on Saturday. The train will board at 4:30 p.m. at the depot in Petersburg and will take couples into the Potomac Highlands.
The train will depart for the two-hour trip at 5 p.m. The trip will feature a catered prime rib dinner by Gourmet Delights of Petersburg. The cost for the dinner train is $60 per person and reservations are required.

Anyone wanting to dance the night away and help out a charity for youths will have the opportunity this weekend in Elkins. The Heart and Soul Valentine's Dinner Dance will be from 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday at Orchard Hall. Tickets are $40 per person or $75 per couple and all proceeds will benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Couples can also take in the At the Heart of Heritage Reception and Dinner at the Beverly Heritage Center in Beverly on Saturday at 6 p.m. Activities will include a tour of recently completed construction and new exhibits. Couples will be treated to a grilled beef tenderloin dinner along with period music and love songs. Tickets are $40 per person or $75 per couple. The Hacker's Creek Pioneer Descendants will host a Sweetheart's Day Spaghetti Dinner on Sunday at the Central West Virginia Genealogy Library and Museum. The dinner includes spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert and ice tea. The dinner is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children younger than 12. Tickets may be purchased by calling 304-296-7091 or at the door.
Several area restaurants are also offer dinner specials including surf and turf meals.
