Make plans now to enjoy the fall season in the mountains of West Virginia on a dinner train through the state's Potomac Highlands. The South Side Depot in Petersburg is hosting the "Autumn Splendor Dinner Train" on Oct. 16.
Passengers on the "Autumn Splendor Dinner Train" will begin boarding at 4 p.m. at the South Side Depot in Petersburg.
"There is plenty to see through the broad windows on the South Side Express vintage passenger train cars," said Julia Hartman, director of the Grant County Convention and Visitors Bureau. "Passengers will get a chance to view an array of fall foliage, historic buildings, scenic rock formations and native wildlife such as the bald eagle."
The train will be debarking on the 2 1/2-hour trip through the countryside at 4:30 p.m. and will feature a catered prime rib dinner by Gourmet Delights of Petersburg.
The cost for the dinner train excursion is $60 per person and reservations are required. The event is designed for adults only.
