The Louis A. Johnson VA Healthcare System is seeking qualified volunteer drivers to support the Volunteer Transportation Network. The drivers will assist veterans with their transportation needs to and from scheduled appointments at one of five Louis A. Johnson locations throughout northcentral West Virginia, including the VA Medical Center in Clarksburg and community based outpatient clinics in Westover, Parkersburg, Parsons and Flatwoods.
Drivers are particularly needed in the following counties: Calhoun, Marion, Lewis, Monongalia, Preston, Randolph, Roane, Taylor, Tucker, Tyler, Webster and Wood. Volunteers must provide proof of a valid West Virginia license, current insurance and have a clean driving history.
In addition, drivers are required to pass a physical exam and safety training course, both provided by the VA.
Volunteers are acknowledged annually at a volunteer recognition ceremony, in addition to receiving potential awards from the Disabled American Veterans organization.
