A community choir is being formed for a Lewis County community Thanksgiving prayer service. The service is set for Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Weston.
Singers will gather at 6:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church located at the corner of Center Avenue and East Second Street in downtown Weston. They will join to practice "Come Ye Thankful People Come" and "We Gather Together" and perform during the service.
The Rev. John Valentine of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Weston will be the guest speaker for the service.
The service is sponsored by the Lewis County Christian Alliance. All community members are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served following the service in the Baptist church's fellowship hall.
Those attending are asked to bring non-perishable food for the Family Resource Network in Weston.
Items include cereal oats, jelly, peanut butter, instant potatoes, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, rice, dry beans, green beans, pork and beans, tuna, peas, lima beans, corn, green beans, tomato sauce, soups, Spaghetti-o's, pasta, Spam or Treat, potted meat, crackers, canned milk, powered milk, salt, pepper, seasonings, flour, sugar, catsup, mustard, mayonnaise, pudding, Jell-O, Miracle Whip, dish-washing liquid, laundry supplies, shampoo, conditioner, combs and brushes, bar soap, deodorant, toothpaste and adult toothbrushes.
