Ideas for the people on your gift list

After surviving the first hurdle, holiday racers know they need to pace themselves if they are going to make it through the season with their sanity. Surviving with their wallets is another task shoppers are trying to accomplish when scrolling down their holiday shopping lists.

Year after year, electronics and jewelry are among the most purchased and asked for gifts. Both can be expensive. Both can lead to big smiles. And both can be obtained with a little planning.

Two stores in downtown Elkins have made the jewelry market easy to handle. This year's exciting gifts are ones that keep giving and changing throughout the year. Pandora jewelry and Troll Beads allow the wearer to continually change the colors, patterns and styles of necklaces, bracelets and earrings.

Another jewelry option offered by Third Street Trading Company is Viva Beads. The handcrafted beads are colorful and come in an array of colors and patterns. While not customizable, the unique jewelry can be in the lower end of the price range, but that doesn't stop the pieces from making a bold statement.

Electronic gifts aren't just for the pocket-protector-wearing or the visually challenged among us anymore. The world of gadgets and gizmos has expounded to include items off the computer. Gifts like eReaders, cameras and music players can quickly turn an analog stocking into a digital one.

Video games, even 25 years after the launch of Nintendo's Super Mario Brothers, are still a large part of the electronic entertainment genre. With advances in motion detection, the Kinect and Move get gamers out of the chair and their hearts pumping.

The task of completing all those wish lists doesn't have to be a daunting one. Start here and in a few days, the presents could be wrapped.
