On Feb. 5, Graceland and Halliehurst mansions will house the Davis & Elkins College Bridal Show. The event opportunity see what local wedding specialists can offer to couples planning their big day.
"We want to show people what Elkins has to offer," Davis & Elkins College Director of Graceland Operations & Conference Planning Melody Wileman said.
"People can shop locally," she said.
D&E Catering Director Michael Ratliff said the show will also provide an opportunity for the college to show the services it offers. The college features several locations for weddings and receptions including the historic Graceland and Halliehurst mansions.
Ratliff said the mansions can be utilized for weddings and receptions. With lodging available at the conference center and the mansions, couples can book the rooms for overnight guests as well.
"We want people to see that all these services are available," Ratliff said. "I think people can come to the Bridal Show and plan their whole wedding. It's a good opportunity for people to see what the area offers for services."
According to Ratliff, visitors will be able to tour the facilities at the college as well as sample food and see displays of china and glassware. "It (a wedding) is a big part of your life and something like the Bridal Show can give you peace of mind by planning early," he said. "Brides and grooms should bring a notebook and a lot of questions."
