Lewis County EMS to host health screening March 29

Life Line Screening will be conducting a stroke prevention screening on March 29 at the Lewis County EMS building in Weston.

Pre-registration is required and can be done by calling 800-324-1851.

A stroke/carotid artery screening where ultrasound is used to evaluate the build-up of fatty plaque is available.

The cost is $60.

A heart rhythm screening can also be done.

The quick and easy test using EKG electrodes on the arms and legs can identify the presence or absence of an irregular heartbeat. The cost is $60.

An abdominal aortic aneurysm screening is available. Ultrasound is used to screen for the presence of an aneurysm in the abdominal aorta, which could lead to a ruptured aortic artery.

The cost is $60.

Peripheral Arterial Disease screenings will be available. The test checks for plaque build-up in the lower extremities. The cost is $60.

An assessment to determine the risk of osteoporosis will be offered.

The test determines bone mass density.

The cost is $35.

All five screenings can be done for $149, a savings of $126.
