"Dream of Murder," an audience participation murder mystery, will tease giggles and grins from attendees at the Blackwater Falls State Park dinner theater on April 2. Presented by The In Cahoots Players of Fayetteville, the setting is an annual telethon to benefit SNORE, the Society for the Narcolepsy of Restorative Engineers (aka beauty technologists).
"The play is staged as a concert and fundraising event to raise awareness and find a cure for this heartbreaking and hair-raising illness," according to Paulita Cousin, event coordinator at Blackwater Falls. What are the devastating results when beauticians or cosmetologists succumb to the sleep of narcolepsy? "Part of what makes the evening fun is that the audience gets to interrogate the suspects and guess who committed the nefarious crime of murder," Cousin explained.
Blackwater's murder mystery dinner begins at 6 p.m. in the park restaurant with the play following dinner. The per person cost for the dinner and play is $38.54 per person; the cost for children 12 and younger is $20. Dinner buffet includes three entrees: pot roast, baked salmon and fried chicken, side dishes, soup and salad bar and soft drinks and coffee.
An overnight package includes dinner, play, lodging and Sunday breakfast buffet for two for $178.84 per double occupancy. Reservations are requested.
The dinner theater cast invites overnight guests to join them for "breakfast with the stars" on Sunday, April 3. "Breakfast price is included in the overnight package," said Cousin. Blackwater Falls offers weekly Sunday breakfast buffets. The park restaurant is open to the general public.
