Coalton, Elkins and Junior fire departments responded to a structure fire in Jimtown Monday. According to Coalton Fire Chief Ernie George, the fire was confined to the attic and exterior roof of the ‘shop’ building owned by Dean Merritt. Crews arrived on scene around 7 p.m. and had the fire under control within 40 minutes. Fire damage to the building was not extensive, George said, but he estimated water damage to the tools at $40,000.
