50th anniversary

Bruce S. and Mary Elinor Evans will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house hosted by their daughter from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. June 4 at the Izaak Walton League clubhouse on Files Creek Road.

They were married on June 4, 1961, in Lock Lynn, Maryland, by the Rev. Brian Blair.

They have one daughter, Dawn Evans-Hale and husband, Donnie, of Elkins.

Mr. Evans is the son of the late Vincent and Velma Evans. He started his career with the Division of Natural Resources in 1958 and retired with 45 years of service.

Mrs. Evans is the daughter of the late Arthur and Martha Alt. She was a cook at Elkins High School and Third Ward Elementary School and retired with 23 years of service.

Both are very active in conservation and youth clubs in the area. Mr. Evans is the current president of the Izaak Walton League, Mountaineer Chapter, and Mrs. Evans is currently the treasurer for the state chapter of the Izaak Walton League. They have also been actively involved in the Randolph County Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs Committee and Expo for 17 years.
