Registration is open for teams wanting to take part in the 2011 Tucker Community Foundation Run For It. Participants are vying for more than $33,000 in race day grant awards - the largest purse since the program started in 2007.
More than 30 cash prizes will be awarded at the conclusion of the 2K/5K walk and run scheduled to take place at 11 a.m. Sept. 24 in Davis in conjunction with Leaf Peepers Festival.
Cash awards and race proceeds benefit a wide variety of community causes including nonprofit organizations, educational activities, youth, cultural organizations, the arts, parks and recreation, animal welfare, libraries and literacy programs, civic organizations and projects, emergency services, hospital and medical programs, senior citizens, environmental causes, historic preservation, and other charitable causes within Barbour, Grant, Mineral, Pocahontas, Preston, Randolph and Tucker counties, and Garrett County, Maryland. Funding for awards is provided by Tucker Community Foundation with match donor support from area businesses and individuals.
Anyone can enter and join any team. Teams are listed on the foundation website as they register. Joining a team is not required to participate, and individual efforts are also recognized.
