Pocahontas County Free Libraries has been awarded a $12,000 Community Facilities Economic Impact Initiative (EII) Grant, according to Bobby Lewis, state director for USDA Rural Development.

Rural Development funds, leveraged with other funding, will be used to purchase equipment for the Linwood Community Library. The Linwood Community Library was established in 2010 and is located in the former Snowshoe Welcome Center.

"Libraries are an essential community facility," Lewis said. "We are happy to be part of such an important investment into the future - education and our children."

Rural Development serves as the lead federal entity for rural development needs and administers program assistance through its housing, business, community and infrastructure programs.
