Elkins All-Stars fall in Kentucky; Post 29 earns win

OWENSBORO, Ky. - Strong pitching helped lift Northern Illinois to a 3-2 extra-innings win over Elkins Friday in opening round action of the Ohio Valley Babe Ruth Regionals.

Ryan Seymour pitched a scoreless eighth inning and picked up the win for Northern Illinois.

Dan Oindioh pitched the first seven innings for Northern Illinois and gave up two runs on five hits.

Silas Gibson took the loss for Elkins in one inning of relief work. He gave up one run on two hits.

Issac Riggleman pitched the first seven innings for Elkins. He gave up two runs on five hits, walked one and struck out four.

Silas Gibson had a two-run double to lead Elkins at the plate, while Jake Wyatt, Colby Gainer, Clayton Collett and Kollin Hopwood all had hits for Elkins.

Tristian Winans and Gainer scored runs for Elkins.

"Issac pitched really good for seven innings," said Elkins coach Joe Ross. "We just ran into a good team and the kids should have nothing to be ashamed of. They played a good game but just fell a little short."

Northern Illinois plays Wisconsin today at 3 p.m.

Elkins will play today at 8 p.m. against the loser of Central Indiana/Michigan or Eastern Kentucky.

KEYSER - Spencer Webley had three hits including two home runs to lead Elkins Post 29 past Berkeley County 16-13 Friday in American Legion state tournament action at Potomac State College.

Corey DeVall notched the win for Post 29 (35-11) in 2 1/3 innings of work. He gave up two runs and struck out four.

Christian Scott picked up the save for Elkins in two innings pitched. He gave up two hits and struck out four.

Adam Fansler had three hits, while Ryne Bonnell finished with two hits and four RBIs for Post 29.

Zack Woolcock had three hits and Jake Sites had a three-run home run for Post 14.

Jared Spielman took the loss for Berkeley County in three innings of relief.

Elkins plays Wheeling Post 1 today at 10 a.m.
