Snowshoe ready for smokin’ weekend

August 12, 2011
The Inter-Mountain

It will be a cool 70 degrees atop Snowshoe Mountain this weekend, but the resort is heating up with the eighth annual Blues, Brews and BBQ festival today through Sunday. Regional breweries will be on hand in the resort's nearly mile-high Village with plenty of frosty samples, while live blues music is played from the Village stage.

The event kicks off this evening with a Village Tailgate party. The night will conclude with a family friendly movie viewing under the stars. On Saturday, the main event begins at 10 a.m. in the Village central. Artisans and crafters from around the region will be on hand, and family activities including the Village climbing wall and children's Eurobungy will be available. Snowshoe's scenic lift rides, down to the beach area at Shavers Lake will also be open all day. At noon, ACE rafting, one of Snowshoe's state tourism partners, will host duckie races on Shavers Lake. Prizes include gifts to ACE Adventures. Live music will begin at 12:30 p.m. from the Village stage and the main Blues, Brews and BBQ sampling event begins at 2 p.m.

Event tickets may be purchased online at snowshoemtn.com and are available day-of at Snowshoe Mountain Resort. For more information, call 877-441-4386 or visit snowshoemtn.com.
