It will soon be 10 years since our country was attacked by terrorists on Sept. 11, 2001. I find it very hard to accept that our city is not having some sort of memorial service to remember those that lost their lives that day.
I would think that the mayor's office would be out in front of something like this. Or has it just become another event that we have become complacent to?
Yes, I know that we were not directly involved or received damage here in Elkins on that day, but we as Americans owe a thanks and remembrance to these citizens that are gone. Our city should at least be doing something even if it is a moment of silence to remember all those killed that day.
So far, nothing is planned at this time was the response I received from the mayor's office when I called to find out if there were plans. I would hope that the mayor's office has given more thought to that and that there will be some sort of memorial service on Sunday, Sept. 11.
