Light Night Festival offers alternative to Halloween

October 3, 2011
The Inter-Mountain

The "family fun" alternative to spooky Halloween activities is the idea behind the Light Night Festival in Weston on Oct. 30. The free event is set for 3 - 6 p.m. on the front lawn of the Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in downtown Weston. The sponsor is the Lewis County Christian Alliance.

"We will have family fun for everyone," coordinator Debbie Clem said. "The Light Night Festival has free admission, free food, 25 games for kids, prizes and Trick or Treat candy for children. They may dress in costume for the city of Weston's Community Trick or Treat at 6 p.m."

The Lewis County Christian Alliance exists to promote and embody Christian unity, spiritual growth and outreach. From various denominations, members believe that what they share in Jesus Christ is far greater than their differences. Jesus prayed that all believers would be one, and the Christian Alliance prays that unity will be a witness of love to the community. They seek to discern and accomplish God's will, believing that, empowered by God, they can achieve more together than separately.

The group meets monthly at various churches to plan and promote Christian values in the community.
