The officers and board of directors of the Upper Valley Recreational Authority Inc. acknowledge reception of a $500 Grant Award form the Snowshoe Foundation. Application was made in the fall of 2010 and UVRA Inc. received notification in November 2010 that the organization was successful in its attempt.
A $500 additional matching amount was required before the Grant Award was released. UVRA Inc. has been involved in a 10-year-long endeavor to complete the construction of the Valley Head Community Center. Although not complete, the Valley Head Community Center has seen much progress within the last year with framing, insulation, drywall application, painting and electrical fixtures installed.
The Snowshoe Foundation Grant Award and matching funds were used to purchase a hot water heater, drywall, ceiling texture, framing lumber and insulation. A small number of volunteers has completed most of the construction. It is noted that the Snowshoe Foundation awards benefit causes in Pocahontas, Randolph and Webster counties.
