Thanking the veterans

November 11, 2011
The Inter-Mountain

EDITORS?NOTE: In Observence of Veteran's Day, Mrs. Higgins sixth grade english class at Elkins Middle School wrote letters explaining what Veteran's Day meant to them.

Editor,

Have you ever wondered why we celebrate Veterans Day? Maybe you have also wondered why we should give our gratitude and tanks to a veteran. I have wondered the same thing, so I decided to find out. After doing research, I?came to my conclusion. I invite you to cotinue reading as I uncover everything veterans have done for us.

I ask again why do we celebrate Veterans Day? We celebrate to honor men and women that have fought for our freedom in many differnt wars. When we celebrate Veteran's Day, we should think of more than getting our of school. We should remember the veterans that went to war so we could be free.

Why should we give our gratitude and thanks to a veteran? Have you ever thought about everything a veteran has done for us? Some have gove to foreign places and fought for our freedom. Some have even died protecting our rights. We should at least give them a simple thank you for that.

Now, you know about Veterans Day, and why we thank veterans. I challange you to go thank a vetran in your community for what he or she has done for our country and its rights. Try to remeber why we celebrate next Veterans Day, and not just getting off scool or work. Thans for reading.
