Performance Motors donation helps students

January 2, 2012
The Inter-Mountain

A donation from Performance Motors will help students at Tucker County High School's Career Complex in more than one way.

Performance, with locations on Pennsylvania Avenue in Parsons and at 1211 Harrison Ave. in Elkins, recently contributed a 2006 Ford Taurus to Tucker County High School's Collision Repair Program. Patrick Darlington, Performance co-owner, presented the keys to Assistant Principal/CTE Director Junior Helmick and collision repair instructor Dave Nelson.

Initially, the car may be utilized for school trips related to the Career and Technical Programs.

In the future, students will be able to practice collision repair skills on the vehicle.

"This will be invaluable to us," Nelson said. "We can't thank Performance Motors enough for supporting our programs."

Darlington said he knows firsthand the value of Tucker County High School's award-winning Career and Technical Programs.

"We've hired several people who were trained by Mr. Helmick and Mr. Nelson," Darlington said. "We appreciate the work they and their fellow educators do, and we're happy to assist them in any way possible."
