Ronald L. Nestor

Pastor Ronald Lee Nestor, 80, a resident of Elkins, and a well-known businessman, departed this life early Wednesday morning. Jan. 11, 2012, in Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center in Elkins.

He was born Monday, March 30, 1931, at Akron, Ohio, a son of the late Porter Delbert and Veulah Bennett Nestor.

On June 26, 1955, at East Boston, Mass., he was married to the former Rita Beatrice Capezzuto, who survives. They had celebrated 56 years of marriage.

Also surviving are two sons, David Lee Nestor and wife, Julie, of Gilman and Stephen Thomas Nestor, Elkins; one daughter-in-law DeeDee Nestor; one sister, Gloria Killean and husband, Gary, of Akron, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Maria Ann Nestor, Samuel David Nestor and Rachel Ellen Nestor; and one niece and one nephew.

He was a graduate of Philippi High School and a graduate of Fruitland Bible Institute at North Carolina. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a sheet metal worker in Akron, Ohio. In 1965, he was the owner and operator of the Elkins Recreation Center. He was a member of the H.W. Daniel's Post 29 American Legion, the Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars where he served as chaplain and the Elkins Lodge 1135 Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. He also served as an officer on the Midland Water Board for several years. He attended The Believers Fellowship Church at Montrose and The Grace Ministries at Valley Head. He had preached at various area churches.

The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel Saturday, Jan. 14, at 2:30 p.m. Pastor Terry Cannon and Pastor Todd Corley will officiate and interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, where the H. W. Daniel's Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct full military honors.
