Members of the Philippi Volunteer Fire Department served patrons during the lunch hour at the Medallion Restaurant in Philippi on Nov. 27.
The Medallion generously donated the entire proceeds, including gratuities and collected taxes, to the fire department to support the ongoing expenses of that important community service organization. The restaurant also paid the state the required tax on food sales.
The group of firefighters waited tables until the restaurant closed its doors at 3 p.m. A separate crew of volunteers came in early to work during the breakfast hour, which started at 8 a.m.
