The Randolph County Humane Society wishes to extend thanks to Elkins and surrounding communities for their support and generous response during our Iams Home for the Holidays campaign.
Including rescue transports, 187 animals were adopted during the months of October through December, greatly exceeding our goal of 150. In December, more than 5,300 pounds of dry food were donated from community supporters as well as more than 100 new toys, 500 pounds of cat litter, 200 pounds of treats, and about two weeks worth of cleaning supplies. Every small donation makes a difference.
To feed our resident animals for one month requires approximately 2,200 pounds of dry food. Add the required canned food, cat litter, treats and toys and the cost of care climbs. With higher utility bills during winter adding to operational expenses, these donations are significant and greatly appreciated.
It is because of the kindness and generosity of our donors that we are able to continue the important work of providing care for our shelter animals while they wait for their forever homes. The Randolph County Humane Society is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization and all donations are tax-deductible.
Our residents join us, with meows and wagging tails, in offering our sincere thanks and best wishes for 2012.
