The Inter-Mountain

The Parsons outpost of the Tucker County Senior Citizen Center meeting at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 6 will include a covered-dish lunch.

The Tucker County Sheriff's Department will sponsor the Tucker County Senior Academy beginning March 21. The meetings will be at the Parsons Senior Center on Wednesday afternoons. A van will be available to transport those in the Thomas/Davis area.

Classes for the senior academy will include preventing fraud, crime and domestic violence; defensive driving tips; information about the Federal Bureau of Investigation Center; cancer treatment, joint replacement; in-home patient safety; and more.

Field trips will be conducted April 4 to Canaan Valley Wildlife Refuge and Canaan Valley Fire Department. Those interested in this trip or the senior academy should call the Sheriff's Department at 304-478-2321.

A trip to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam is being planned for late September. Those interested should call the senior center to place their name on the list.

Indoor games continue Feb. 7 at the Mt. Top Senior Center following lunch. Seniors can join the group for fun, exercise and fellowship.

People with questions about medical bills, Medicare Part D or assistance with prescriptions can call Ann Filler at the senior center for a consultation.

Candidate forums will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. April 14 and 21. The Mt. Top Center in Thomas will host the April 14 event and the Parsons Center will be the site of the event for April 21.
