Clemence Marie Caroline Cretaux and Joel Thomas Whiteman, along with their families, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Geraldine and Antoine Cretaux of Le Chateau d'Olonne, France. In 2008, she graduated from high school in her hometown in France. Now, she is a student at West Virginia University pursuing a degree in French with a minor in economics.
Her fiance is the son of Gary and Becky Whiteman. He is the grandson of Robert and Joan Baker and Williard and Connie Whiteman of Elkins. He is a 2004 graduate of Elkins High School and a 2011 graduate of West Virginia University with a master's degree in secondary education. He is teaching French literature at West Virginia University and will pursue a master's degree in French in August.

A July wedding is planned at the Forks of Cheat Winery in Morgantown. A reception also will be held in France in December for the family and friends of the bride who cannot attend the wedding.
